CREATIVE MEETING POINTS: MELBOURNE x HONG KONG
14 November 2016 - 30 November 2016
Applications for Creative Meeting Points are now closed
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Dancehouse Melbourne and the Performing Arts Department of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Hong Kong are starting a 3-year artists' mobility collaboration project.
The project aims to foster artistic dialogue and exploration, support artistic research and development, promote the development of work-in-progress and facilitate future collaborations and modes of artistic circulation.
The project consists of 6 residency exchanges between Melbourne and Hong Kong, to be held between 2017 to 2019. A total of 4 artists (2 from each partner organisation) will be mutually selected for the project.
Artists will be invited to share their practice and processes with a focus on cultural memory, identity and authorship in relation to their articulations with local and global contexts. These open sessions will be guided by local provocateurs. The residency schedule will also allow participating artists the opportunity to connect with the local dance community.
By creating this context, the partners hope to expand the artists' creative practice and contribute to the cross-pollination of thought through cultural dialogue and expanding artistic practice by connecting it to other geographical, political and aesthetic contexts.
WHO CAN APPLY?
EOIs are now open to Melbourne-based artists with an interest in sharing processes and work-in-progress in conversation with other peers and who are open and interested in collaborative models. Artists must commit to both residencies in 2017. Short listed artists will be invited for a 30 minute interview with the panel.
