Bo Madvig

Bo Madvig, performer in Hotel Pro Forma's 'Tomorrow in a Year' - Melbourne International Arts Festival 2010 brings his workshop, 'Improvisation for Stage' to Dancehouse.

To perform a dance piece instantly made, on the spot, in front of the eyes of the spectators requires a great amount of technique and skills. The workshop IMPROVISATION FOR STAGE is designed to provide tools and skills for dancers to be able to navigate and partly steer the moment and development of the dance piece being performed.

In the workshop I will assist and help the individual dancer to develop and strengthen their own personal movement language, timing, sense of arrival and expression to be able to perform solo as well as in duet, trio, quartet and group constellations. The workshop will also focus on developing knowledge on how to compose as and in a group.

How can I stay 'me' and at the same time take responsibility of the piece we make and perform together?
How do we make a duet with the other dancers as chorographical landscape? How can two solos share time and stage (space)?
How can we support a trio as a second or third layer in the moment?
What do I do when adrenalin splits mind and body?
How to perform stillness?
How to be present without being seen?

These are some of the questions I will focus on in the workshop, Bo.
