Dance Workshop with Live Drumming — Kate, Emmanuel & Antonio

Dance Workshop with Live Drumming
Come and move to the live rhythms of djembe and dun dun drumming from West Africa and Brazil. With dance movement led by Kate Louise and drumming led by Emmanuel Aryeetey and Antonio Moreira.
The theme of this workshop is trance. Through repetition of movement trance allows us to be present and lose one’s sense of separateness. In traditional cultures of the world rhythmic drumming and dance movement is how people heal, transmute and connect in community.
Kate Louise is a dancer and yoga teacher with a passion for embodied expression through the practice and influence of traditional movement knowledges. Kate has studied and been influenced by dance and movement cultures from Ghana, Senegal, Guinea, Brazil, Colombia and India. Kate’s intention is to share the joy, insight and freedom that movement of the body offers, and foster cultures of community and connection.
