Dancehouse is on Wurundjeri Country. We offer our respects to the Wurundjeri woi-wurrung people — and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people — who continue to dance on Country, and have done, for thousands of generations. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

On The Table is a weekly gathering for artistic exchange and collaborative working where artists come together to build a culture of sharing practice. Expanding beyond traditional in-process showing formats, artists are invited to not only share their work, but to bring others inside of their process. To ‘put something on the table’ for everyone attending to explore together.

Apply to host a session by putting something ‘on the table’ for attendees to explore together. Research questions, readings, movement investigations, project ideas, WIP showings, or other things in need of testing or teasing out with others are welcome! You can treat your session like a workshop, study group, lecture, crit, experiment, presentation or something else we haven’t thought of yet!

Key Dates:

Applications close at 11.59pm on Friday 13 September.

On The Table Season 2 will run on Monday evenings from Sept – Dec 2024. Session are in the Sylvia Staehli Theatre from 6- 8pm, with each session hosted by a different artist/collective.

Who Can Apply:

We are excited to hear from dancers of all backgrounds, as well as anyone working within or adjacent to the realms of dance, movement, choreography and bodily practice.

Selection Process:

We endeavour to program as many relevant EOIs as possible and are available to support you in developing a proposal.

We are not going to judge the quality of your writing. Simple dot points and short sentences will suffice- we will followup for more info if needed.

If you’d prefer to apply through an alternative format (ie audio recording, video or phone call), please reach out.

We are interested in programming a wide range of sessions in terms of artistic discipline and session format. In particular, we are invested in programming sessions that encourage participants to co-question with the artist and what they are putting ‘on the table’. We ask that sessions accomodate for participants with various backgrounds and levels of experience with dance/movement/art.

Accessibility:

All access requirements are warmly welcomed. Please get in contact and we will endeavour to meet your needs in hosting a session. The Sylvia Staehli Theatre is wheelchair accessible and is located near to wheelchair-accessible and all-gender bathrooms. Quieter spaces are available in the building.

Finances:

Unfortunately there is no budget for this program and hosting artists will not receive a fee. We encourage you to propose sessions that will be of benefit for you as an individual or collective.
