On The Table EOIs
On the Table is a weekly event for artistic exchange and collaborative working. Expanding beyond traditional in-process showing formats, artists are invited to not only share their work, but to bring others inside of their process. To ‘put something on the table’ for everyone attending to examine together. Read more >>
Applications close at 11.59pm on September 1, 2021.
On The Table will occur every Monday evening in the Sylvia Staehli Theatre at 6.30pm, with each week hosted by a different artist or collective. This program has been running since April of this year.
Who can apply
We invite artists working within or adjacent to the realms of dance, movement, choreography and bodily practice to express their interest. Projects and ideas at any stage of development are welcomed.
Sessions can take a broad range of formats, you just need to bring in some form of an artistic provocation.
Your session could simply be an extrapolation of a work-in-process showing (i.e. show some choreographic material, host a feedback discussion and then workshop some things together based on the feedback received). It could also be an opportunity to carry out initial explorations for a new idea with other bodies or to bring new minds into a problem/question you’ve been dealing with alone. Perhaps you have a new obsession you’re not sure what to do with? Maybe you just want to bring in something exciting to play with (such as a text, a piece of music or a physical object). Workshops, research sharings and any other formats are also encouraged.
All access requirements are warmly welcomed. Please get in contact and we will endeavour to meet your needs. The Sylvia Staehli Theatre is wheelchair accessible and is located near to wheelchair-accessible and all gender bathrooms.
Unfortunately there is no budget for the program and hosting artists will not receive a fee. We encourage you to propose sessions that will be of benefit for you as an individual or collective.
We are interested in programming a wide range of sessions in terms of artistic discipline and session format. In particular, we are invested in programming sessions that encourage participants to co-question with the artist and what they are putting ‘on the table’. We ask that sessions accomodate for participants with various backgrounds and levels of experience with dance/movement/art.
We endeavour to program as many relevant proposals as possible. We are available to assist and support you in the planning and running of your session.
