Dancehouse stands on what always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We pay our respects to the traditional owners of this land, the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation, to their Elders past and present, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.

Ballet for the Contemporary Dancer — Angelina Nicole

Ballet for the Contemporary Dancer

In this inclusive ballet class we will use the tools of ballet technique to increase strength, flexibility, and range of artistic expression. By thinking about alignment and movement in terms of our own anatomy we enhance our ability to self-correct, prevent/heal injury, and find more freedom to move through space. Each class will incorporate familiar ballet barre and centre exercises as seen through a modern/contemporary lens. Classes will be geared toward adult intermediate level dancers (any dance style) and suitable for those returning to dance after time/injury or looking to expand physicality and artistic range. Welcome!

Angelina Nicole’s dance journey began at a young age with rigorous ballet training in Los Angeles, CA. She became immersed in modern/contemporary dance after moving to San Francisco in 1995, where she danced, taught, performed, and choreographed around the SF Bay Area for many years before moving to Australia in 2015. Inspiration for the current class includes the unparalleled teachings of Augusta Moore, Mary Cochran, Robert Moses, Jane Casson, and Katrina Rank. Angelina is currently a member of Fine Lines Dance and holds a BA in Psychology and an MFA in Dance.
