Dancehouse is on Wurundjeri Country. We offer our respects to the Wurundjeri woi-wurrung people — and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people — who continue to dance on Country, and have done, for thousands of generations. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

HARAMBEE Creative Futures is a three-and-a-half-year initiative (2026-28) creating stronger, culturally safe pathways for People of Colour across Victoria’s dance and performing arts sector.

Led by Kwabo Events and Ausdance VIC and funded by VicHealth through the Shifting the Playbook program, the project brings together artists, communities, arts organisations, education providers and local councils to create opportunities for participation, employment, leadership and creative development.

At its heart, HARAMBEE Creative Futures is about creating a sector where People of Colour feel safe, recognised and valued — where culture, creativity and lived experience are celebrated, and where artists and arts workers can build sustainable careers and thrive.

Together, we’re working towards a healthier, more inclusive and representative future for Victoria’s creative industries.

Dancehouse is proud to partner on the HARAMBEE Creative Futures program is joining as a host, participant, and organisation within the Community of Practice of participating organisations. In 2026 and 2027, Dancehouse will host production/ event, and stage management placements as part of the program.

The Harambee Creative Futures project is funded and supported by VicHealth’s Shifting the Playbook Initiative and delivered in partnership with Kwabo Events and Ausdance VIC
