Dancehouse is on Wurundjeri Country. We offer our respects to the Wurundjeri woi-wurrung people — and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people — who continue to dance on Country, and have done, for thousands of generations. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Layers of Support — Noa Rotem & Anat Yariv Greenberg

LAYERS OF SUPPORT: MELBOURNE

Noa and Anat, both experienced teachers and movers in their fields, find the meeting point between BMC®, Improvisation and Contact improvisation to be a source of curiosity and rich discovery.
This workshop is a part of a series of our collaborative research sessions and stems from our joy of dancing together and diving into embodied research.

Together, we will explore the relational cycle which underlies the development of movement and which is comprised of the five basic actions of ‘yield, push, reach, take hold, and pull’.
These actions are first initiated in utero, continue to develop in the first couple of years of life, and remain intrinsic to our moving body throughout our lives.

Noa Rotem is a director, performer, somatic movement educator and facilitator. She has worked and trained extensively in Australia and overseas as a freelance artist. She is a graduate of the Soma School of Body-Mind Centering ® (Paris), HaKvutzah School of Dance (Tel Aviv), the University of Sydney and of the Actor’s College.
Noa has taught widely at a range of international professional companies, tertiary institutions, secondary schools and youth companies.
Noa’s training includes Dance Improvisation, Body-Mind Centering, The Viewpoints, The Suzuki Method of Actor Training, Contemporary dance, Authentic Movement, The Morris Technique, Butoh, Gaga, Contact Improvisation, Practical Aesthetics, The Meisner Technique, and Yoga.

Anat Yariv Greenberg is a dancer, performer and teacher. Her exploration led her through different fields such as Acrobatics, Yoga, Capoeira, Pilates, Body-Mind Centering®, Authentic Movement,Ilan Lev method, Contemporary and Contact Improvisation, where she found her home and inspiration.
She is a B.Ed graduate in dance and is a certified Pilates teacher for 15 years. The exploration through movement and dance is for her a practice of presence, connection between body-heart and mind and a source of learning more about the nature of reality and life. Amazed by the natural ability of the body to transfer information to change and adapt to any circumstance she continues to practice by teaching and learning what is possible.
