ORBIT 2026
ORBIT 2026 is a national touring program for independent dance works in Australia, created to solve a key problem: the lack of sustainable touring options for small-to-medium scale productions.
In 2026 ORBIT will present and tour curated works. Each ORBIT tour offers a rich “whole night of dance” experience for audiences while providing independent choreographers the opportunity to remount and reintroduce significant works to new audiences.
Led by Australian Dance Theatre (SA), Dancehouse (VIC) and Sydney Dance Company (NSW), ORBIT will see exceptional independent choreographic works slingshot to multiple cities on a fully supported tour.
ORBIT’s 2026 program will feature Agitato by Jo Lloyd, Charcoal by Keia McGrady, [ gameboy ] by Amy Zhang and Future History by Gabrielle Nankivell.
Running the gamut from a poignant mediation on country, an exploration of ingenuity in the face of ecological collapse, a choreographic reckoning with a virtuosic piece of classical music from 1823 and a video game inspired work about our digital lives, ORBIT offers audiences the chance to experience works from artists at the vanguard of contemporary Australian performance.
>>Program A | Charcoal by Keia McGrady & Agitato by Jo Lloyd / 29-31 October
>>Program B | Future History by Gabrielle Nakivell & [ gameboy ] by Amy Zhang / 19-21 November
