Presented as a part of Dance (Lens) Mini 2024.

Calling all screendance artists! This is your chance to get fresh eyes on new work.

For the inaugural Dance (Lens) Scratch Night, Dancehouse is delighted to invite screendance makers and enthusiasts to a special informal event to share screendance rushes, first cuts, scores, and experiments of new works in development and receive feedback from fellow artists and audiences.

Scratch Night will offer two sessions with artists showing no more than 6 minutes of screening material/ rushes/ cuts or drafts. Each session is hosted by resident Dance (Lens) leaders Siobhan Murphy and Cobie Orger.

If you’d like to share work at Scratch Night, please send through a brief expression of interest via the form.

The inaugural Dance (Lens) Scratch Night is FREE.

And yes, the bar will be open.

What’s on offer

Each session is 90 minutes and will feature 5 ‘scratch’ works in progress through a set format. Following a short introduction for each session, the host will invite the dance-filmmaker/s to present what they’re showing for 2 minutes and to identify what sort of feedback they are seeking. Following the maximum 6 minute screening, the host facilitates a 10 minute discussion for feedback.

Dancehouse will select all participating scratch night artists by 14 November 2024.

Participate / Share your Scratch

There are 10 “Scratch” sharing opportunities across the two sessions. Participation is free.

Participate by submitted an expression of interest at the form below. The 10 selected works in progress will be selected by the hosts through this process. Expression of Interest close 11.59PM Thursday 7 November.

The EOI form uses Airtable (you don’t need to log-in or set-up an account). The Airtable form requires some basic contact information and a short answer
