Funk Station is a Melbourne-based collective that aims to celebrate all things Funk through innovative events and projects to provide a platform for Melbourne’s budding Locking community. Since launching in July 2021, the 1v1 Locking category saw 60+ overseas and interstate participants and over 150 attendees across 2 events so far. Funk Station is the hub for all things Funk in Melbourne.

What is Locking?

The “Campbellock” aka “Locking”, is an improvisational performance dance based on the expression of the individual, with “The Lock” as its base from which everything flows.

It is a freestyle dance, where you are free to move to the music, returning to “The Lock” as a place to start over, pause/end or where you let the music guide your movements somewhere else.
