No budget is required.

The Punctum X Dancehouse On Residence opportunity is for: regionally-based artists undertaking experiments that connect with one or many layers of place.

Here are some prompts …

  • Tell us about you as an artist and your training and dance lineages
  • Tell us about the experiment/s you would like to undertake through On Residence
  • What is your experiment?
    • PROCESS? working at the limits of what can be achieved through your practice, taking risks, engaging in processes of trial-and-error, stepping into the unforeseen, not knowing where answers lie, failing safely.
    • TECHNIQUE/FORM? radical new techniques or forms that do not fit a central narrative of any given art-form or traditional approach.
    • INVENTION? not merely offering something different but engaging with a potential that the artist considers has been overlooked or excluded and can be shared with or adopted with or by others.
  • How would like to work and spend your time in each Part? Please include both creative and practical information.
  • Is there a specific connection or relevance to place? Or, one of the sites On Residence. If so, please explain how.
  • Why this experiment now and how might audiences (at Dancehouse or beyond) engage with it?
  • What form might a presentation take: performances, public programs, films, events, installations, community engagement, publications, research sharing, lecture, seminar, workshop?
  • Do you have specific requirements or conditions for your residency e.g. working with collaborators, community or in larger groups, access needs, non-availability.

Selection Process

Dancehouse and Punctum will consult 1-2 independent dance artist advisors to appraise the proposals. Applicants many be invited to a short online zoom/ phone conversation for the partners to hear more about the project.
