In Real Life invites the audience to witness what happens when two or more bodies enter a dance without pre-determining or knowing what they are going to do. This one-off Contact Improvisation (CI) performance brings together a group of experienced contact improvisors into the unfolding moment of the here and now and asks them to be present. CI is the exploration of the natural forces of gravity, momentum and shared weight in relationship to other bodies, that leads to spontaneous composition and communication made on-the-go.
The 14 performers could not dance together for a year due to Covid. When allowed back on the floor (masked) they wondered how they would go with a form that involves touch and trust.
Performers: Abi Hector-Taylor, Ashley MacQueen, Alice Robinson, Caroline Ellis, Catherine Magill, Cezar Mincu, Emily Bowman, Flynn Braithwaite-Tucker, Ian Ferguson, Joey Lehrer, Johnathan Sinatra, Martin Hughes, Rachael West, Shelley O’Meara and Yoko Maeda
