Dancehouse is on Wurundjeri Country. We offer our respects to the Wurundjeri woi-wurrung people — and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people — who continue to dance on Country, and have done, for thousands of generations. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Dancehouse invites Australian independent dance artists to propose projects for Dancehouse’s 2027 seasons (and beyond)

Dancehouse Seasons

Dancehouse Seasons are clusters of presentations (productions, exhibitions, talks and events) that invite audiences to experience and appreciate dance.

Dancehouse Seasons bring together a deliberate mix of artistic voices, styles, genres and works: from new creations to remounts; projects by emerging and established artists; from pure movement to expanded choreographies; from works about dance to projects that invite audiences to dance themselves. Seasons may include theatrical black box productions, white box installations, improvisation nights, battles, talks and participatory events. All dance is welcome.

Since 2022, Dancehouse has produced and presented 2-4 Seasons annually, with a focus on the work of Australian independent artists. Each season typically includes four to eight curated projects ranging in genre, scale and style.

These Seasons will continue in 2027 and beyond, and we welcome project ideas from Australian independent dance artists for consideration.

This invitation is for live performance projects that are ready, or nearly ready, for a professional presentation outcome to an audience or community.

Dancehouse is accepting proposals for 2027 seasons until 11:59pm Monday 20 April 2026.
