A double-bill where neighbouring worlds offer states of safety, nostalgia, and freedom in expression.
ROCKABYE by Sam Osborn
The punk baby within sails through a transforming world of balloons, parachutes, forts and fans, guided by divinity — holding tension between protection and expression, tenderness and rebellion.
Raw, playful, and disarming, ROCKABYE inflates and empties identity and the ego. In this sandy site of ache and liberation, belonging becomes bricolage. Instability becomes a space for connection and release.
Throughout ROCKABYE, harmony is constructed and slips into chaos. It’s a space for angst and play where comfort and discomfort manifest expression and transformation.
With live sound sampling and composition by Ev Morris, the performers create a spontaneous, responsive sonic and movement score, reflecting their respective journeys of empowered authenticity. Up-cycled costuming by Hailey Scott is reimagined live.

In a world of control and rigidity, pressure to become someone else, terror at being truly seen, we are caught between survival and longing. Deep down, what we desire most is exactly what frightens us: to be known for who we are.
HAVEN is a safe place; a place to come home to, where we are free to be authentically ourselves. What happens when we are safe enough to dissolve into our inner ways of being? When we can express ourselves effortlessly, without armour?
HAVEN offers refuge. A space where that knowing can emerge. Where deep softening occurs, and we are transported into a new reality — unfurling one breath at a time.

Sam Osborn is a movement-based artist from Dharawal Country (NSW) and currently based in Naarm. Their practice is rooted in a desire for liberation, truth and reconnection to the joy of dance; both as personal expression and as a catalyst for social and political change. Sam has worked across contemporary dance, art, film and fashion, collaborating and performing with a number of Australian independents. A graduate of Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Year, Sam is drawn to the constant evolution of form and identity. Their work investigates duality in many forms: tenderness and rebellion, comfort and discomfort, strength and softness. Working in ways that are playful and honest, Sam is interested in queerness as a site of ache, defiance and liberation.
Evelyn Ida Morris is a gifted composer, celebrated for his dexterity across multiple instruments and for composition that is complex and structurally adventurous. His first feature soundtrack, for Thomas M. Wright’s Acute Misfortune, earned him an ARIA nomination in 2018. Their soundtrack for Aotearoa-based director Michelle Savill’s Millie Lies Low, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. Their television debut soundtrack for ABC’s White Fever is their most recent work for screen. Evelyn has an extensive practice composing and performing for performance artists and dancers such as Deanne Butterworth, Jo Lloyd, Lauren Brincat and Agatha Gothe Snape. Most recently they composed and performed for a sculptural performance work in collaboration with Emily Parsons Lord and Shan Turner Carrol at Liveworks Festival 2024. Evelyn had also received Creative Victoria and Creative Australia funding for development for his debut work as a director, creating the reactive compositional work, Parallel. This work is being expanded into a series of collaborative films exploring choreography and how it interacts and reacts to music – to be presented in 2026 at The Substation.
Hailey Eliza Scott is a Costume Designer. Raised in country Victoria, on certified organic farm, she has a natural ability to create costumes out of second hand and up-cycled materials, aiming to be as resourceful and sustainable as possible. She has spent the last few years gaining skills working in the film and TV industry, while designing costumes for contemporary dance.
